This Cookie Policy explains how Medical News Stream LLC (referred to "Medical News Stream," "we," "us," "our," “Site”, or “Newsletter”) and our third-party partners use cookies and similar tracking technologies on MedicalNewsStream.com, our Newsletter and other resources intended for use by healthcare professionals (the "Service"), and how you can control them. Visitors or users of the Service might be referred to as “You,” or “Your,” or “Their”). This Policy supplements our Privacy Policy.

Cookies are small text files placed on your browser when you visit a website. Similar technologies (such as pixels, tags, beacons) are used for related purposes, including recognizing your device, remembering preferences, personalizing the Service, measuring site usage, and delivering advertising. There are three primary types of cookies:

Strictly necessary / functional. Required for the Service to operate — for example, our consent management platform sets cookies that record and enforce your cookie/privacy preferences, and our content management platform may set functional or session cookies (such as login state).

Analytics. We use third-party analytics providers to help us understand aggregate site usage, which sets analytics cookies. For visitors recognized as located in the EU/UK, these cookies are gated behind consent through our consent management platform.

Advertising and marketing services. Cookies enable us and our advertising partners to deliver advertisements that are more relevant to you and your interests based on your member registration information, content browsing activity, use of the Services and in some cases, other information about you that we or our advertisers have obtained from other sources. Cookie technologies may be used to limit the number of times you see a particular advertisement and to measure the effectiveness of an advertising campaign. 

We may personalize the Service, including the advertising you see on the site and in our Newsletters based on your registration information, information collected about your use of the Services and information we receive from third party sources.

The Service displays advertising served by third-party advertising partners, including display/banner ads, native content ads, and email newsletter advertising. Some of this advertising is targeted to healthcare professionals using technology that matches a professional identifier (e.g., profession, speciality, NPI number) to serve relevant advertising, both on the website (see Section 4) and within our email newsletter (see Section 5). Additional third-party advertising exchanges and demand partners may participate in our advertising setup and set their own cookies. We also use a content-recommendation service that may set its own cookies.

Some advertising on the Service may be specific for healthcare professionals using a cross-site healthcare professional network operated our advertising partners. In simplified terms: when a healthcare professional interacts with certain other participating medical websites, that healthcare professional’s identifier may become associated with a cookie in their browser. When that same browser later visits the Service, our advertising partner's ad tag can check for that cookie; if present, it enables real-time healthcare professional advertising for that visit. We do not directly collect, store, or receive your professional identifying information  through this process — the identification and matching occurs entirely within our advertising partners' systems, under their own privacy policies. (For a separate, registration-data-based form of healthcare professional used in our email newsletter, see Section 5.)

Separately from the website-based healthcare professional advertising solution  described in Section 4, our email newsletter uses your registration data — not a browser cookie — to serve healthcare professional advertising. If you register with our Service your healthcare professional identifying information is passed to our email service provider during newsletter delivery. This sharing allows our advertising partners to serve healthcare professional advertising directly within the newsletter emails you open. When you open a newsletter email, our email service provider passes your healthcare professional identifying information to an advertising partner, which matches it in real time to serve you a healthcare professional ad within that newsletter email. This Relies on data you provided at registration rather than a separately-observed browser cookie.

Our advertising and analytics partners maintain their own privacy policies governing how they handle information collected through their cookies and identity technology. Contact us (Section 9) if you would like more information about a specific advertising or analytics partner.

You can manage your cookie preferences for the Service through the consent preference tool provided by our consent management platform, available on the site. You can also control cookies generally through your browser settings, and you can opt out of certain interest-based advertising through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance (optout.aboutads.info) or the Network Advertising Initiative (optout.networkadvertising.org). If you do not want your healthcare professional information used for advertising as described in Section 5, you may unsubscribe from the newsletter or contact us to request that your information be withheld from this sharing. If you decide to opt out, you will continue to be served ads, but they will not be served based on your personal internet activity. Please note that blocking or deleting cookies may affect the functionality of the Service and the relevance of advertising you see. The Service does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

Our advertising and analytics technology stack changes as our advertising program grows. We keep this Cookie Policy separate from our Privacy Policy so it can be updated independently as vendors are added, removed, or confirmed. We  intend to periodically perform a live cookie/tracker scan of the Service to keep the vendor list current. We may revise this Cookie Policy at any time, without notice to you. You are responsible for reviewing it regularly. Your use of the Service following the posting of changes means you agree to abide by those changes.
