SKINVIVE Gains FDA Approval for Neck Appearance

The FDA has approved SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM to reduce neck lines and improve neck appearance in adults older than 21 years, Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company, announced in a press release on June 16, 2026.

According to the company, the approval makes SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM the first and only hyaluronic acid injectable indicated to reduce the appearance of neck wrinkles and help skin retain its natural moisture, leading to improved neck appearance. The product is administered with an ultrafine needle or cannula and contains a small amount of lidocaine to support patient comfort during treatment.

The approval was supported by a randomized, multicenter, evaluator-blinded, controlled pivotal clinical study. At 1 month, 74.8% of participants treated in the neck with SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM had clinically significant improvement, defined as at least a 1-point improvement on the validated 5-grade photonumeric Allergan Transverse Neck Lines Scale. At 6 months, 66% of participants maintained at least a 1-point improvement in horizontal neck lines.

Participants in the study reported injection-site adverse events including redness, bruising, tenderness, lumps or bumps, swelling, firmness, pain, discoloration, and itching at the injection site, according to the announcement. These events were usually mild, did not require treatment, and resolved within 2 weeks. Severe adverse events were reported by fewer than 5% of participants reporting adverse events. The company also noted that safety and effectiveness of neck treatment have not been studied in patients with darker skin tones.

Allergan Aesthetics said the FDA has required them to provide a training program for providers interested in using the product. Successful completion of the training will be necessary before purchase and administration. The company said it expects SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM for improvement of neck appearance to be broadly commercially available later this year.
